Supporting Gentle Ventilation of Newborns
About us
Monivent is a young medtech startup based in Gothenburg, Sweden. Monivent aim to increase patient safety for newborn babies requiring help to start breathing at birth. 3-6% of all newborns require manual ventilation at birth, when air is manually forced down the baby’s lungs using different manual ventilation equipment. Sub‐optimal treatment, using too little or too much air, may cause brain damage or chronic lung injury. Yet there are no good tools available to ensure that an effective but still gentle treatment is given. Monivent Neo100 is a non-invasive monitoring device measuring the airflow given to the baby. Instant feedback throughout the ventilation enables the caregiver to make simple adjustments to ensure a better treatment within recommended guidelines. Monivent Neo100 is an add-on to existing manual ventilation equipment and comprises sharp technical solutions, simple interfaces and wireless data transfer for maximum ease of use and minimal impact on current practices. Monivent guides and supports the caregiver during manual ventilation of newborns to ensure a safe and gentle resuscitation with reduced risk of injury.

Current studies on DR-management, Telemedicine, Videodebriefing, Virtual Reality training and Pulsatile cerebral NIRS. These were some highlights from the two-day scientific program, which participants could enjoy either onsite or online. On Thursday, experts discussed advancements in improving feto-neonatal health from various perspectives. On Friday, the latest research findings and how new technology can enhance delivery room management were presented. During the Virtual Education session, led by Dr. Michael Wagner, Professor Mario Ruediger shared the Dresden team's experience with Telemedicine. This was a historic moment, as Professor Rüdiger has hosted the Dresden Symposium for 15 years but had never presented before. Dr. Hannah Schwarz from Medical University of Vienna and Dr. Veerle Heesters from Leiden University Medical Center presented results from the Multi-Center Videodebriefing project. Dr. Mia Kahvo from Bristol and Dr. Andrea Katharina Lietz from Medical University of Vienna guided us through Neonatal Virtual Reality Training. In the Technical achievement session led by Professor Berndt Urlesberger, Dr Nariae Baik Schneditz and Bernhard Schwaberger, both from Medical University Graz, presented on the topic of technical equipment that can help to improve DR management. #Monivent #Neonatal #Neonatology
