There is no doubt that Jackie Taylor has become the G.O.A.T. after over 51 years of nursing, 23 here at CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances—Jacksonville. This #NursesWeek, Jackie prepares to work her last shift, and just like her idol Tom Brady, her team couldn't let her retire without the proper send-off!  Thank you, Jackie, for your dedicated service to our mission, patients, and community. As we celebrate #NursesWeek, we also recognize the nurses across our system who have been awarded the DAISY award in 2024. This award is a way to thank our nurses for their compassionate care. Any licensed registered nurse, nursing faculty member, or nursing student is eligible to be nominated for a DAISY Award. Nominations come from patients, family members, or fellow Associates who experience or observe the extraordinarily compassionate care these nurses provide. This month, in celebration of #DonateLifeMonth, we’re honoring the heroic donors and courageous donor families who have saved and healed lives through organ and tissue donations, raising a flag with Southwest Transplant Alliance, including two of our own Associates who have been touched by organ donation. April Burge Bertrand, a registered nurse at CHRISTUS Southeast Texas, decided for her daughter Lexy to become an organ donor ten years ago following a tragic accident. April and Lexy’s decision to donate Lexy’s organs saved the lives of three people. Sherry Jenkins, Manager of Patient Access at CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital – Jacksonville, is a donor recipient, having received a kidney from her mother more than 30 years ago. Both facilities marked this critical month with a flag-raising in partnership with @swtransplant. Thank you to those who have chosen the gift of life and are registered organ donors.

National Volunteer Month is a special time to honor our incredible team of volunteers. Our volunteer's dedication and selfless contributions continue to help us fulfill our mission of extending the healing ministry of Jesus Christ! We are thrilled to announce the expansion of CHRISTUS Good Shepherd Health System facilities to serve more East Texas communities. Today, we broke ground on a new, state-of-the-art standalone emergency center in Henderson, expanding compassionate and exceptional care to the area. The facility will offer around-the-clock emergency services, full-service imaging and on-site laboratory services.
