Session
Description: In 2022, the Supreme Court's decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health System upended 50 years of legal precedents, with important implications for many aspects of the health care of children and youth. Drs. Keller and Baker will moderate the panel which will outline the legal implications of the Dobbs decision and discuss how changes in the law will likely impact practice for our youngest and oldest patients. Professor Naomi Cahn of the University of Virginia Law School will open by outlining the basics of Dobbs decision, the ways in which Dobbs has been applied in different parts of the country, impacting everything from in vitro fertilization to parental notification. Dr. Lorch will then delve into ways in which pediatricians and neonatologists have or will need to change their practice as a result of the rapidly changing legal framework. Finally, Drs.Gordon and Coyne-Beasley will discuss the profound impact of Dobbs on the practice of adolescent medicine. Following the presentations, we will engage in questions within the panel and with the audience.
