Workshop
Description: It is essential to be able to translate the work of the scholar and researcher to both the public and decision makers so that the impact of the work can reach a public health level. However, successfully reaching policy makers and seizing the opportunity to efficiently communicate the implications of your work to policymakers can be challenging. This requires balancing the time constraints and responsibilities faced by clinicians, effectively networking with community partners and transforming scholarly work into more easily disseminated, targeted messages. In this workshop, we will go through a series of activities to identify the policy implications in one’s work, learn strategies on how to engage with decision makers and understand the utility of a policy brief and how to create one. Ultimately this skill building session will help clinicians and scholars effectively translate their work into policy.
