Workshop
Description: The goal of this workshop is to promote the use of simulation to foster an interprofessional environment to begin a dialogue around workplace equity and inclusion. Participants will first experience the Interprofessional Debrief on Racism, Equity, and Microaggressions (I-DREAM) training. This hour-long training was developed by the Children’s National Hospital Simulation Program and delivered to over 1800 learners. I-DREAM utilizes pre-recorded simulated scenarios and interprofessional debriefing to focus on individual responsibilities in working towards an inclusive and equitable environment for patients, families, and staff as related to unconscious bias, racism, and microaggressions. After completing the training, learners in the workshop will continue discussion on development of novel simulation-based trainings that can be delivered through a variety of modalities, including virtually. Small group discussion will focus on instructional design of simulation-based DEI trainings, overcoming development and implementation challenges, evaluation, and maximizing scholarship opportunities.
