Workshop
Description: A creative and sustainable solution to the dilemma of work-life balance in healthcare, particularly for women, has remained elusive. As we emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic, increasing flexibility in the workplace has created a paradigm shift away from “work-life balance” and towards a model of “work-life integration.” Valuing and using time like a resource, effectively and efficiently, requires setting of priorities. The aim of this workshop is to better understand key modern concepts surrounding the challenges of managing the demands of work and home and how our own personal work style shapes our experience. Through the consideration of time as a non-renewable resource, participants will contemplate ways in which they might utilize the principle of upcycling their time to maximize personal and professional fulfillment. We will utilize small and large group discussion, think-pair-share, jigsaw collaboration and individual reflection to consider the components of balance and integration. At the completion of the workshop, participants will have access to a repository of resources curated by workshop attendees and a scaffolding upon which they can build their own personal work-life integration plan.
