Description: This session will highlight a selection of the most highly-ranked research submitted to the 2023 PAS informing some of the highest priorities of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Learning Objectives:

To examine three abstract presentations on mental health including how to evaluate whether hospitalization itself increases access to outpatient mental health treatments for children, examining how often children in Chicago are being exposed to firearm violence and the impact of these exposures on their mental health, and to explore symptoms of depression and anxiety among adolescents who reported past-year suicidal ideation and suicide attempts, stratified by sex and ethno-racial identity.
To evaluate the association between the COVID-19 outbreak and antidepressant use in adolescents and young adults.
To examine the relationship between Family-Centered Care and Food Insecurity with beneficial healthcare utilization, health, and resilience in low-income children in the US.
