Neonatal-Perinatal Fellow

My name is Merve Denizli, I am a second-year Neonatology fellow at Indiana University School of Medicine. I worked at MD Anderson Cancer Center for 4 years as a postdoctoral research fellow after completing medical school in Turkiye. There, I conducted and managed research studies about new therapeutic approaches for ovarian cancer and tumor microenvironment and was involved in several peer-reviewed journal articles. Additionally, I completed my pediatric residency training at Saint Louis University in 2021. Currently, I am doing my Neonatology fellowship at Indiana University. My scholarly work focuses on the effects of maternal obesity on offspring health. In particular, my project aims to define the impacts of maternal obesity exposure on offspring hematopoietic stem and progenitor cell (HSPC) function and elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying altered offspring HSPC function and the role of HSPC in regulating glucose metabolism. Upon completion of fellowship, I am planning to pursue a career as a physician-scientist.
