Session
Description: Family centered care (FCC) is growing up. Many of the basics and best practices have been established. The field has much visibility and support from providers. National and state quality improvement networks strongly support the role of family centered care. However, critical barriers to FCC remain. For example, implementation is difficult, particularly for hospitals with limited resources; families are often viewed as volunteers rather than expert contributors; delegation of authority for change making is often withheld; and many others.
The goal of this panel discussion is to take stock of where we are, where we want to go, how we get there in an equitable way, and how we know whether what we do is working and having an impact. The session will field diverse family leaders and FCC experts who will explore these topics and provide guidance for clinicians, researchers, and funders to participate in ongoing efforts and participate in new ones.
