During this in-person session, selected teams of 2-4 participants will explore the coaching approach and how it differs from mentoring and advising. Session faculty will discuss coaching fundamentals and participants will have the opportunity to practice coaching in small groups. Critical success factors in designing a coaching program will be outlined using the literature and experiences of the session leaders and participants. Small group brainstorming/problem solving will lay the foundation for participants to apply learning in their home institutions to design or enhance their own coaching programs. Further discussion will include a conversation about the role the APS could play in establishing and advancing coaching within academic pediatrics.
