Description: Newborn SIG: Breast/Chest Feeding and HIV: A Robust Discussion of Informed Choices and EBMTreatment for HIV infection has improved and resulted in undetectable viral loads in patients, opening the door for a vigorous discussion of the historical practice of whether people living with HIV in developed countries should not be given the option to breast/chest feed their newborns. The APA Newborn SIG will be hosting a diverse panel of speakers to discuss this provocative topic. Themes related to evidence based medicine, patient autonomy, ethics, and health care disparities will be discussed.
