Description: Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics SIG Children and adolescents experience gaps in access to care for behavioral and mental health. The school can be a conduit to receive these resources and bridge the gaps. Through collaborations, pediatric providers can facilitate or provide connections to school-based mental and behavioral interventions to overcome access barriers. We hope this program will inspire pediatric providers to consider school-based mental and behavioral interventions for their community.
In this program, a multi-disciplinary group of experts will describe innovative school-based interventions and implementation strategies. This project team developed the School-Friendly Health System (SFHS) framework, designed to ensure all children reach optimal health and achieve their full academic potential, to guide their school-based strategy. Experts will share their experiences with 3 school-based interventions, and then engage participants in breakout sessions to discuss opportunities for implementation and/or expansion of projects at their home institution.
