Description: Brief Description of Overall Session: This session is targeted at pediatric nephrologists to apprise them of newer developments in kidney transplantation in children. It will provide an overview of advances in organ allocation and immunosuppression agents.
Topic/title: The Role of APOL1 in Organ Allocation and Living Donor Evaluation
Objective: To discuss the implications of utilizing APOL1 in selecting a donor for pediatric kidney transplant candidates
Topic/title: Novel ways to increase donor pool for pediatric kidney transplant candidates
Objective: To discuss various ways to increase donor pool for children (using national kidney donor exchange programs, using A2 donors for blood group B recipients, using DCD donors and PHS high risk donors)
Topic/title: Multi-Organ Transplant involving the kidney
Objective: To detail the approach for evaluating children with kidney disease with multiple organ involvment
