Session
Description: Global recommendations and country policies play a critical role in shaping health care provision in country settings around the world. Often, however, recommendations and policies made by development organizations or governments fail to translate into actions at local levels that improve child healthcare and health outcomes. In this panel, we will explore how global recommendations are developed and disseminated, and how they are translated into policies and programs in-country at first-referral and tertiary-level hospitals and in communities. We will examine challenges and opportunities for translating global guidelines and national policies into child health impact, including success stories which illustrate effective translation across all levels to improve child health and survival. Ways in which we all can be involved in promoting the implementation of evidence-based guidelines will be discussed.
