Session
Description: Physician Well-being is a complex issue that is affecting a great number of practitioners. This panel discussion will offer insights to improve well-being across four domains: Optimizing mental health, engagement in systems improvement, prompting resilience, and maintaining the joy in medicine. Each domain has components for individual and systems level application. Mental health will focus on the current state of mental health in physicians and practical suggestions to improve. Engagement will focus on empowering physicians to make changes to their environment as a means to help them flourish. Resilience will discuss how personal resilience is important to aide the individual in coping with the stresses of physician work. Joy in Medicine will explore how to connect with the reasons why participants became physicians and how to leverage that energy to improve well-being. There will be a panel discussion of the issues surrounding physician well-being, a panel discussion of cases and then an interactive Q and A session with the audience. This panel currently is running a HRSA funded program in these areas across the nation and will reach 25 hospital systems over the next couple years.
