Workshop
Description: The clinical environment is often busy and stressful for learners, educators and clinicians. As our field recognizes how stress, burnout, anxiety and other work-related mental health concerns impact clinical performance and educational development, creating a safe and collaborative learning climate is a priority. Mindfulness techniques have been used to reduce stress and anxiety, increase resilience and focus and improve overall performance in athletics, business and other fields.
This interactive workshop will train clinicians, educators and learners to recognize when individual and team performance is harmed by the stress of a high-stakes and busy learning and clinical environment. Then, participants will be introduced to mindfulness activities that can be used in-the-moment or during work breaks to reduce stress and anxiety and improve focus, performance, teamwork and work satisfaction. Participants will leave with a repertoire of techniques and resources to integrate mindfulness into their clinical practice and strategies to cultivate mindfulness for their learners and teams.
