The Children's Hospital of San Antonio

The Children's Hospital of San Antonio became San Antonio's first and only freestanding children's hospital in the city in 2012. But we are not the new kid of the block! The hospital's roots were established in 1869 when the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word opened San Antonio's very first hospital: the Santa Rosa Infirmary. That small nine-bed building has now become CHRISTUS Health with over 600 hospitals and clinics in multiple states and Latin American countries. Through an academic partnership with Baylor College of Medicine, our hospital has continued to carry out the Sisters' legacy and mission to extend the healing ministry of Jesus Christ.
